Optional Endorsements

ACCIDENTAL DEATH COVERAGE

Thousands of Americans are fatally injured in automobile accidents every year. Accidental death coverage provides much-needed funds to policyholders’ families for final services and household expenses.

Sold as an optional endorsement to a Founders’ automobile policy, this coverage provides payment of the $5,000 policy limit for the accidental death to the policyholder (or his spouse if a resident of the same household) if he dies as a result of a collision while riding in his owned automobile. Because the policyholder must be riding in his owned automobile, this coverage is not available on non-owner policies. By selling this coverage endorsement, you’ll earn a higher producer commission on this coverage!

   Quick Facts

  • Offered in Illinois, Indiana, Ohio and Wisconsin
  • Sold as an endorsement to a Founders’ automobile policy
  • $5,000 policy limit
  • Covers policyholder and spouse, if a resident of the same household
  • Increased producer commission
LEGAL EXPENSE COVERAGE

Municipalities are narrowing budget shortfalls with traffic citation revenue, and policyholders are struggling to afford legal representation when they need it the most. Subject to some exclusions, legal expense coverage reimburses the policyholder up to $500 during the policy period for attorney fees and expenses incurred to defend a citation for a moving violation while driving his owned automobile. Examples of minor moving violations* include:

  • Speeding
  • Improper lane usage
  • Improper passing
  • Disregarding a traffic control device
  • Following too closely
  • Improper stop or turn
  • Failure to yield the right-of-way
  • Unsafe movement
  • Driving too fast for conditions
  • Failure to stop at railroad crossing
  • Improper pushing/towing
  • Driving the wrong way on a one-way street

* Minor moving violations are "civil infractions" if convicted, punishable by a fine only, with no possibility of serving jail time.

The $500 limit can be exhausted for the defense of one citation or for multiple citations during the policy period. Policyholders select their own legal representation. Of course, due to public policy reasons, Founders cannot reimburse the fine and other penalties and costs on the citation itself.

Legal expense coverage is sold as an optional endorsement on a Founders’ automobile policy. Because the coverage requires the policyholder to be driving his owned automobile, this coverage is not available on non-owners’ policies. The legal expense coverage endorsement earns you a higher commission too!
